Abstract
The article is focused on peculiarities of usage of parables in the practical work of a psychologist. Techniques using parables for psychodiagnostic and psychocorrection purposes were described. They help an individual to expand the limits of his/her understanding and view their experience from more flexible position. One important advantage of the use of parables is that it meets lesser resistance in clients than the rational interpretation. The cause for this is that parables deal not with concrete people and their problems, but with a character of a story. Situational model of a parable enables expressing mild reprimand which could provoke rather aggressive reaction if expressed as a rational interpretation.
Characteristic features of parable as one type of text were analyzed. Elicited were semantic, compositional and linguistic facets of parable.
