Abstract

The paper discusses the modern translation theories aiming to identify the most appropriate for analyzing translation as the process of intercultural communication. It considers the functionalpragmatic, activity and cognitive models of translation suggesting the communicative situation should remain the same during both phases of translation process and the cognitive structure of the source text should be closer to that of the target text. We assume that both tasks can be solved using the dialogical approach to the analysis of translation process focusing on the interactive nature of the communication and integrating the ideas of the communicative and cognitive theories of translation.
