Abstract
The analysis of ethnic structure of Tofalars shows mixture of Tuvinian and Khakas ethnoses. Some turcologists make the assumption that the Tofa language is dialect of the Tuvinian language. Expanded collecting and more profound studying of the Tofa language shows complexity and uncertainty of its system and dictates need of detailed comparative studying of system elements of the Tofa language, in particular sound system, first of all with Tuvinian and Khakas languages to establish a true state of affairs.
