Abstract
This article discusses possibilities of extension of components and operational performances of land vehicles by means of electric inertia starter installed into multiple-speed gearbox and operation of planetary mechanism not only in reducing but also in summing mode when torque is transferred to two gears and withdrawn from the third gear. Kinematic flowchart of non-coaxial multiple-speed planetary gearbox with electric inertia starter is presented. Operation of 24R8 multiple-speed gearbox is described (24 forward gears and 8 reverse gears), in which 16 single-loop gears provide gearbox operation in wide range at moderate interval of most gear ratios thus allowing to select optimum operation mode and providing convenient gear shifting.
