Abstract
In this work, a numerical study has been performed to observe the effect of nanofluid on the convective heat transfer characteristics in the developing region of tube flow. The average particle size ranges from dp = 15 to 150 nm and particle concentration of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 wt% has been used in this work. Single-phase method with constant heat flux at the wall has been used for the analysis. The objective of the study is to observe the effect of particle size and particle concentrations on convective heat transfer at various Reynolds number and axial location (x/D). The results of the present work are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data available in the literature. The results indicate that the particle volume concentration and flow Reynolds number increase the heat transfer coefficient, while the nanoparticle diameter and axial location has an opposite effect on the heat transfer coefficient.
