Abstract
The article deals with the parallel development of music and painting in the historical aspect. Examples of images of musical forms are given by the painters, as an example of the similarity of the patterns of musical and pictorial compositions. The art of music and painting is considered as an example of time and space art, respectively. Also, the concept of musicality is defined in the work which is the result of the identical physical nature of color and sound. The semantic affinity between color in painting and timbre in music is investigated. The article describes the phenomenon of colored synesthesia which is an example of the perceptual aspect of the correlation of musical art and painting.
