Abstract
In this article the project method as one of effective ways of educational activity of pupils is considered. At the heart of educational process there is a cooperation and productive communication of pupils directed to cooperative solution of problems, ability formation to allocate important things, to set the goals, to plan activity, to distribute functions and responsibility, to critically think, to achieve significant results. The author suggests to use the project method for development of socially significant competences through the appeal to problems of regional culture, in particular, to literary study of local lore
