Abstract

The aim of the article is to study the linguistic potential of anthroponyms as a part of the figurative comparison in publicistic texts of periodicals in Great Britain and the United States. The article gives the definition of publicistic text, figurative comparison. The article discusses the stylistic features of the use of anthroponyms in the composition of figurative comparison. The article provides examples of the use of anthroponyms found in the publicistic texts of the English-language media. The article for the first time considers anthroponyms as a part of figurative comparisons, performing the function of evaluation stereotype.
