Abstract
This study is a comparative analysis of the demand and request modalities of expression in the Rus- sian and Persian languages. The article examines these modality expressions in the structural-semantic and ap- plied frameworks. The aim is to practically study these modalities of expression, their main characteristics and their applications. In order to obtain the most reliable results, more than 180 examples from the play "The Cherry Orchard" by Chekhov were examined. The basic method used was the statistical comparative analysis. No study, to the best of researcher's knowledge, has targeted this issue in the literature. In addition, it's the first attempt to organize all the demand and request modalities of expression in a single study. The pedagogical implication of the study lies in its generalizability: The methodology can be used in the description of the other modalities in semantic-functional fields
