Processes of surface plastic deformation

Surface plastic deformation (PPD) is the processing of parts by pressure (without chip removal), at which only their surface layer is deformed plastically. PPD is carried out by a tool, the deforming elements of which (balls, rollers or bodies of a different configuration) interact with the surface to be treated according to rolling, sliding or embedding schemes.
