Abstract

In today's business world environmental issues plays an important role in marketing. Most of all the governments around the world have concern about green marketing activities that they have attempted to regulate them. There has been little attempt to academically examine environmental or green marketing. This article introduces the terms and concepts of green marketing, briefly discuss why going green is important and also examine some of the reason that organizations are adopting a green marketing philosophy. The research area of the paper focuses on how Solar Energy plays an important role as a part of Green Marketing. Today the non-renewable energy consumption is increasing which leads to pollution and future facing extinction. Here Solar Energy which is free and inexhaustible becomes the best benefit for mankind and it is a vast and clean energy serving as an alternative to fossil fuels. Mobile phones, mp3 players, laptops, remote controls, etc. are generally convenient until their batteries go dead. For many consumers, having to routinely recharge or replace batteries remains the weakest link in portable electronics. Green consumerism has played a catalytic role in ushering corporate environmentalism and making business firms green marketing oriented. This research paper is based on green marketing concept of how marketing of solar chargers for mobiles can be done to reduce the use and waste of electricity in the world facing extinction of non-renewable resources. Based on the data collected through a primary survey, the paper makes an assessment of the extent of environmental awareness, attitudes and behavior prevalent among consumers in India and lists implications of the study. In the concluding section, suggestions of the study have been discussed for undertaking more thorough investigations in the area.
