Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of economic load dispatch (ELD) in thermal generating unit. The function of the on-line economic load dispatch is to distribute the load among the generating units actually paralleled with the system in such a manner as to reduce the total cost of supplying the minute to minute requirement of the system. To reduce the running charges of the electric energy i.e. reduce the fuel consumption for meeting a particular load demand. The main factor controlling the most desirable load allocation between various generating units is the total running cost. The operating cost of a thermal plant is mainly the cost of the fuel so Improved Environmental Adaption Method (IEAM) is proposed for the optimal schedule of all the generator units that can supply the required load demand at minimum fuel cost while satisfying all system constraints such as Generator constraints and Transmission losses. New Bio- inspired Optimization Algorithm Improved Environmental Adaption Method (IEAM) is applied to solve economic load dispatch problem of IEEE six thermal generation units system. All results obtained through MATLAB Simulink software. The results show that the proposed method was indeed capable of obtaining higher quality solutions efficiently for ELD problems within less computation time.
