Abstract
The purpose of the article is to determine the methodological foundations of sociological research of the quality of General education (the content of the basic concepts, the choice of research methods), On the basis of the review of studies of the quality of General education published in the scientific literature, the classification of the basic concept by content is presented. Justified General criteria the quality of General education: the level of proficiency of students; strength of knowledge; the stream of knowledge required for admission to institutions of vocational education. The groups of conditions and factors affecting the quality of education in General edu- cational institutions, which, according to F. Herzberg's two-factor theory, can be attributed to hygienic and moti- vational factors, are determined. It is shown that monitoring is an effective means for the information substantia- tion of the regulation of the quality of education
