Abstract
Concrete is the most considerable material in demand which is used in most of the construction practices in the world. The major characteristic of concrete is that it resists compressive forces and gives longer life span. The long life of concrete is a result of it durability. The durability of concrete is its ability to resist weathering action, chemical attack, abrasion or any other process of deterioration. Therefore, a more durable concrete gives more service life to a structure. Durability of concrete can be further improved by providing supplementary cementing materials as a partial replacement in the concrete. Metakaolin is also a supplementary cementing material which can be used to partially replace cement which leads to reduction in the demand of cement. Reduced demand of cement will also favours the environment as cement industries are mainly responsible for CO2 emission in the air
