Abstract
The behavior of the piles on the sloping ground under cyclic loading is different from the behavior of the pile located on the horizontal ground surface. In the present study, the numerical analysis has been carried out by using PLAXIS 2D. The analyses are carried out on single model pile under cyclic loading to determine the behavior of the soil-pile system. A single pile of embedment length to diameter ratio (L/D) of 20, 25 and 30 were located on the horizontal ground surface and slope angle of 1V:1H and 1V:5H was subjected to cyclic loading of 60 N with the applied frequency of magnitude 10 Hz. From the analysis, the acceleration, displacement and bending moment of the pile under each case was studied. From the study, it is very clear that as L/D ratio increases, the acceleration, maximum displacement and bending moment are reduced.
