Abstract
Compliance testing verifies, if the product or the application developed, is in accordance with the pre-defined rules, requirements and standards. In the Compliance testing of BACnet (Building Automation and Control Network) products, it is tested whether, the BACnet product is in accordance to the standards, set by, ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers), which is the member of ANSI (American National Standards Institute). Since, the products are made by various companies, they have to go through strict and precise tests, to make their working analogous with each other, so the products could be interfaced in the common platform and could be universally accepted in the global market. In the vast topic of Compliance testing, this paper talks about, advantages of internal pre-testing (carried out within company, before sending the product for BTL (BACnet Testing Laboratory assessment) over earlier practice of Compliance testing and certification (done only by BTL), ensuring compliance to set standards by pretesting of the product, resulting in getting BTL certification without any slippage with respect to its functioning and to be on time in the market with minimum BTL testing cost (charged heavily on time basis) since less/nil iterations required to get BTL certification.
