Abstract
With the rapid growth in construction sector, it becomes all the more important to assess the amount of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste being generated and analyze the practices needed to handle and use this waste before final disposal. In this work compressive strength, Split tensile strength, flexural strength and workability properties of recycled aggregate concrete were studied and compared with control concrete. The workability of recycled aggregate concrete was higher when compared to control concrete. The 28 day compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete was found lesser with control concrete. 7 days compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete is slightly more than control concrete. The increase in cement content from 348.36 Kg/m3 (M20 RAC) to 425.78 Kg/m3 (M30 RAC) has shown increase in split tensile strength by 19.1%. The mix M20 RAC and M25 RAC has shown same flexural strength with the respective control concrete. We can observe 11.1% decrease in flexural strength for the mix M30 RAC with M30 control concrete.
