IMPROVING PROPERTIES OF SMART NI/TI DENTAL ALLOY

It is well es tablis hed that Ni/Ti is categorize as a shape me mory alloy. They found great interes ting application including aeros pace, biomedica l and s o many others . However, there is poss ibility of corros ion of thes e alloys in phys iological s olution and diss olution of toxic Ni-ions . Las er s urface treatment technique was adopted in this work. An improve ment inNi-ion dis s olution reduction of (310%) was obtained in Nd -YA G las er s urface-treated s amples . Great enhancement in corros ion res is tance of (1549% ) als o occurred. A s ubs tantial imp rovement in hardness of (368% ) was recorded in las er treated s amp les .
