Abstract
Theatre is a powerfu l tool fo r co mmun ication ideas and entertaining people with c reativ e e xpe riences . India has a longes t and riches t tradition, the origin is c los ely related to anc ient rituals . Bharata's natya s has tra giving a divine orig in to Indian theatre, attributing it to the natyaveda. It started as a narrative form, with recitation, s inging and dancing becoming integral ele ments of the theatre. Theatre in India has encompas s ed all the other forms o f literature and fine arts into phys ical pres entation. It is divided into three dis tinctive kinds . The s econd phas e of theatre in India was bas ed on oral traditions . The folk theatre e merged forcefu lly in different reg ions and different languages .
