Abstract
The SDS-PA GE analys is of corpus cles of Stannius extract was carried out in the freshwater fis h, Notopterus notopterus. Pair of corpus cles of Stannius is pres ent embedded in the pos terior portion of the kidney. The res ults indicate that the SDS-PA GE application of CS tis s ue homogenate indicates that the products of CS of Notopterus notopterus is a protein having molecula r weight 41 kDa which might be a hypocalcemic hormone reported in other fis hes and can be called as hypocalcin. Stanniocalcin (ST C) is pres ent throughout vertebrates , including humans , but a structure for STC has not been identified in anima ls that evolved before bony fis h.
