The Effect of Extender Content and Pressing Duration on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of the LBV assembled using Phenol Formaldehyde Adhesive

The Application of for composite-panel product is still limited. The use of for laminated bamboo venner (LBV) is not yet hidly known. As an attempt to diversify bamboo products,research has been implemented about The Effect of Extender Content and Pressing Duration on the Physical and Mechanical Propertiesof the resulting LBV assembledusing Phenol Fomlaldellyde (PF) Adhesive. Tbis researcbe aimed to obtain LBV products with qualitiesthat would satisfy or correspond to those of ct1rrently-popular composite panel This research employed one species of bamboo namely "rope bamboo" as raw material for veneer with size measuring 40 x 2 x 0,1 cm,futher assembled LB V using PF adhesive. The treatmentfactorsas implemented comprised additionof extender, beingwheatflour in 4 kveis (contents) i.e. 0%, 2,5%, 5%, and 10% and hot-pressingdurationin two kveis i.e. 10 and 20 minutes. The resultingassemblies were is ~ered-LBV in all measuring 40 x 40 x 1,5 cm.The testing on productscovered the qualities of PF adhesive and the LBV it sely mouisturecontent and densiryas pllysical test, and internal bonding, MOE, MO Rand delaminationas mechanicaltest), which referredto conseentivefy the 1998's and 2000's IndonesianNationalStandard (SNI) criteria. Resultsseueeledthatqualitiesof PF adhesive as lynthesized could comply with the 1998's SNI specificationfar the correspondingadhesive in the assemblingof plywood. Meanwhile, the LBV products assembledfrom the combined treatment of extender content at 5% and pressing durationfar 10 111inutecould mostly satisfy the 2000's SNl specification.
