Abstract
The study elaborates experimental research for upgrading the flexural capacity of RC beams using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP). Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) application is a very efficient way to renovate and make stronger structures that have become structurally weak over their life span. Fiber Reinforced Polymers repair systems provide a cost-effectively feasible option to traditional repair systems and materials. In this study, experimental analysis on the flexural behavior of Reinforced Concrete T-beams strengthened using glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) sheets are carried out. Reinforced Concrete T Beams outwardly bonded with GFRP sheets were tested to failure using a symmetrical two point fixed loading scheme. The investigational outcome show that outwardly bonded Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) can augment the flexural capability of the beam significantly. In addition the results indicated that the most efficient pattern was the U-wrap GFRP. A sequence of comparative studies on deflection among the present investigational data were made. Future areas of research are being outlined.
