Abstract
A cancer that develops from the tissue of the breast is termed as breast cancer. The signs that indicate a breast cancer is that a lump on breast can be found accompanied by the changes in the shape of the breast, fluid oozing from the nipple, dampening of skin etc. With the disease spread, there can be shortness of breath, pain in the bone and the lymph nodes can be swollen. All over the world, the second leading cause of death for women is breast cancer. It is one of the most commonly occurring malignant tumours among women. As the cause of the disease is not known exactly, early detection, classification and diagnosis of it is quite important. If the early detection of the breast cancer is done, then it seems to be a most treatable malignancy. In this paper, Ant Colony System (ACS) algorithm is used to classify the breast cancer. Results show that an average classification accuracy of 96.98% is obtained along with an average performance index of 93.03%.
