Abstract
This research ia a comparative reaserch which aims to to examine the effect of student problem solving skills about coffee which is one of the locals (superior commodity) of the local population towards the learning with guided inquiry model. Data collection was done by observation of learning on problem solving skills during group discussion. The number of respondents in this research is 48 junior high school students in Coffee plantation area. This research instrument used problem solving skill instrument covering some aspects such as: understanding problem, making plan, executing plan, and re-checking answer. The data obtained were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis and Mannova (Multivariate Analysis of variance) test with SPSS version 24 for windows. The result of data analysis indicated that there was significant influence of using guided inquiry model with problem solving skill.
