Abstract
Material Resources plays a key role in the construction industry as the structures are made up of materials. A structure is made up of number of materials such as bricks, steel, concrete etc., in huge quantities. These are the physical resources that give physical shape to the project. It is an important element to consider in project planning and control. Materials are major expense in construction. Minimize Procurement costs provides opportunities for reducing the project cost. Poor materials management results in increase of project cost.Even unusable materials may deteriorate during storage at a particular location or they may be stolen due to not giving security to the particular place. Material management should not only monitored in storage it must be taken care while using also. The important thing for project managers is timely flow of materials. Some of the materials may not available near to the construction site. So there is a problem of getting materials to the site ontime may lead to project delay causes the increase of the cost of the projects. Daily record keeping is most important to avoid the miss calculations that leads to the problems in construction projects. The central purchasing group in the organization is undertaken the purchasing process of materials for the purpose of construction. For inventory control in any organization materials management problem is analogous. The findings revealed that time is most important with respect to materials arrival, storage etc.
