METAPHOR AS A SPIRITUAL CONNECTION BETWEEN LANGUAGE AND MYTH

The article deals with the connection of metaphor with mythology, language and the origin of symbolic forms. The relationship between language and myth, mythological thinking and linguistic thinking are considered within the frame of works of Ernst Cassirer and some German philosophers and linguists. The idea is traced that the basis of any myth-making is "basic metaphor", the structure of mythological and linguistic world is largely determined by spiritual ideas.
