Cosmetic surgeries for individuals with Down Syndrome in Jordan: cosmeticians, special education teachers and families perspective

Abstract
The current study aimed at investigating perspectives of cosmeticians, special education teachers, and families of children with down syndrome in regard to cosmetic surgeries that maybe conducted on those individuals. The study samples consisted of (30) cosmeticians, (295) special education teachers, and (200) families. Researchers have developed three different instruments to assess the participant's perspectives. Results indicated “moderate” perspectives among cosmetician, special education teachers and families; there were no statistical significant differences between cosmeticians and special education teachers on gender variable. However, differences were found between them on “experience” variable in favors of “more than five years and less than 10.” Additionally, there were no statistical significant differences among families' perspectives on cosmetic surgeries on “educational level” variable, however, differences were found on “level of income” in favor of families of higher income, “child's gender” in favor of females, and “child's age” in favor of over 18 years old
