Abstract

Introduction. Among the ethnic diversity of Transcarpathia, the Roma (Gypsy) ethnic group, living conditions, ethnic specificity, the value orientations of which are increasingly of interest to contemporary researchers, are clearly distinguished. The complex socio-economic conditions of life and educational and cultural problems of the Gypsy population of the region require a thorough study. In particular, this concerns the particularities of the education and upbringing of Roma children in the elementary school of education, which determine the specifics of the work of elementary school teachers. Purpose. To reveal the peculiarities of the work of elementary school teachers with Roma children. Results. For Roma as well as for all people, education is the key to a civilized future. Therefore, in this respect, it would probably not be correct to oppose Roma to any other ethnic group. In the Transcarpathian region there are 20 fully segregated Romani schools. Most of them are located in old buildings with no elementary conveniences, with general education schools, several libraries, no gymnasium or sports grounds, cafeterias or dining rooms, equipped with a minimum set of school furniture and accessories, textbooks and books, educational materials, toilets are located on the street, no water supply. Very tolerant is the situation in the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region. It is gratifying that the overwhelming majority of primary school teachers in the Mukachevo Specialized School of I-III. No. 3 them. Ferenc Rakoki II do not feel a significant difference either between the children or between the parents of Roma, Ukrainian or Hungarian nationalities. Usually children do not stand in the team, do not create conflict situations, take part in all class events and schools, parents monitor the culture and trim appearance of their children. Younger schoolchildren of different nationalities (Ukrainians, Hungarians, Roma) in classes are friends, help each other. Administration of Secondary School № 14 shows two main problems in the school: 1) the problem of visiting; 2) children are not at all engaged at home. Therefore, teachers, especially elementary school students, are forced to work overtime, carry out individual work with children in order to give them sufficient level of knowledge. An important aspect of the work of elementary school teachers in this school is the educational work, the main subjects of which are discipline, attendance of occupations, observance of hygiene skills, culture of behavior and communication, combating harmful habits. Conclusion. The Romani ethnic minority of Transcarpathia is significantly different from other communities with its peculiarities of life, ethnocultural mobilization and ethnic identity. This specificity is manifested, first of all, in the low educational level, which is determined by a number of factors. The most significant of them is the lack of readiness of elementary school teachers to work with children and Roma parents. Accordingly, the study of ethno-social and ethno-cultural life, the specifics of the educational issue of this national minority in Transcarpathia is an important complex scientific-theoretical and substantially-practical problem, which requires further thorough study.
