Abstract
This research is a descriptive analysis to check some of the strong or the weak points of the new English book (Prospect 1) for Iranian junior secondary students. This analysis is based on the features of content analysis and syllabus design. It also intends to check the organization and the main content of the book. According to this research, the main good points of the book are the physical make up, the available teacher’s guidebook, the fluency and coherence among the lessons, content organization, and attention to all skills in language learning. The main weak points are the lack of explicitly mentioned objectives, supplementary materials to the teachers, authenticity, and the inappropriate contextual situations. This research is hopefully expected to be useful in revising the current book and also in organizing the other English books of Prospect.
