Motivations and Uses in the Social and Educational field that Students at the University makes from the Facebook

Abstract
The social networks have become an important part in the lives of young people. In these technologies they found an easy and fun way to express themselves and communicate with friends and family. But young people also found in the social networks of informal support tool in education. However, when a school decides to formally include social networking in their educational processes it is necessary to conduct an investigation to determine how their students use these social networks, so the school can take advantage and avoid the phenomenon of creepy treehouse happens when a young social space is invaded. This paper presents the results of a focus group that explores the motivations and uses that college students made from the social network of Facebook. The results show that students take advantage of the features of Facebook for educational purposes, such as: a) the virtuality for collaborative work; b) to communicate with their teachers for advice, to agree with their peers on issues of work and give notices; c) the facility to share educational resources and get uploaded to the network by themselves, peers and teachers; and d) creating closed groups to work exclusively with their teachers.
