The coup attempt in our country in July 15, 2016, was significantly grounded on theological-mythic basis. Main actor of the attempted coup was a preacher who has been known by his religious identity and who supposedly struggled to put the Prophet and his companions into horizon. Everyone was acknowledging him this way and thinking that he is seeking nothing but the God's gratification. Recently, even variety shows of self centred people around him those who don't give any rights of life to people except for themselves, who has gained social and political power was welcomed with wishful thinking, and it was thought that the relevant person is not aware of this. But now there was a totally different situation, F16 planes was bombing everywhere, tanks was stepping on people. The power that has set those people in motion, who has always been repeating words like love, peace, brotherhood, altruism, sacrifice and humility, must have been very strong. In this article, background of this motivation and it's theological- mythic grounds will be searched and evaluated. it's important to know how much this motivation is grounded on theological and mythic basis. The main problem of this article is this question. Because if theological-mythic background in question isn't understood and precautions are not taken, then in the geography that ummah is living, there will be more attempts like July 15. This attempt has shown that some elements that must be in Islam can be used to gather people actively around it, is not very difficult. Beside that, related constitution and it's leader has tried to legitimise it's activities by taking advantage of some notions and establishments that are used in history of sufism by sufis. In this sense, the expressions that are used in case of exploitation will be studied. No doubt that politicians must also take precautions. But we will specifically try to attract attention how important it is for scholars and intellectuals to take precautions against efforts to direct Muslim masses to accept elements that are out of Islam.
