Abstract
The article analyzes the dynamics of the organizational and legal state of the Soviet advocacy during the period of partial liberalization of the Soviet political regime. The specifics of the personnel of law unions, the mechanism for organizing the legal profession, the main areas of advocacy practice and its regulatory foundations are examined. The attention is drawn to the peculiarities of the financial side of the lawyers' activity. It is concluded that one of the main obstacles to the creation of a single advocate corporation within the union state was the absence of a federal law on the legal profession.
