Abstract
ICT or Information and communication technology is an umbrella term under which various technologies like computer technologies, telecommunication technologies, and other media communication technologies, software, hardware are involved, through this technologies library can provide better service to the users, in this age of information explosion without the ICT, it is not possible to manage the huge amount of information, in the user perspective searching for information is very difficult without the application of proper computerized search technique, so in this age of information technology ICT is indispensable in the library. This study aims to explore the factor affecting the ICT adoption in the University libraries in West Bengal, in terms of perceived benefits and problem faced for ICT adoption and different factors. In the different libraries, different types and level of ICT adopted, this research study focuses on factors of four types viz. technological factors, Economic factors, Human factors and invisible factors under each factor there are some sub-factors. This study was designed to contribute to the research and development and improvement of ICT adoption in the university libraries.
