Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of phrasal verbal units of the English language and to the understanding of their essence as part of the theory of English phrasemes. It is shown that phrasal verbs have a dual role in the framework of English phrasemics: they can be considered as idioms due to their imagery and at the same time conciseness in the transmission of information, and to phraseological units, due to the peculiarities of their grammatical structure. The study of phrasal verbs in the framework of the theory of English phrases should be developed within the framework of the science of linguoculturology, which is characterized by anthropocentric communicative aspects.
