Abstract

The a rticle covers an issue of the oilfield service companies' negative impact on the environment. By offering various services to the oil and gas companies, including all the stages of wells exploration and drilling, repair of equipment, transportation of the oil products and etc., oilfield service companies in parallel affect the environmental indexes in the places of operation on onshore and offshore oilfields. According to the international standards and the local environmental law and policies, oilfield ser vice companies build their ecological strategies, mostly relying on the imple- mentation of the high - tech novelties, such as energy saving and non - waste technologies. The article particularly concen- trates on the analysis of the environmental protection activ ities of the industry's two biggest international companies Hal- liburton and Schlumberger as the leaders of the global oilfield service market. The research also comprises the compa- nies' latest achievements in engineering technology fields of the environmen t - friendly and energy - efficient technologies in all types of the provided services and their contribution to reporting eco - efficiency indicators in such fields, as utilization of the solid and liquid components in the drilling fluid, reducing GHG emissions in the use of equipment, efficient energy use and etc. Latest innovational high - tech solutions, implemented in Halliburton, including SandCastle PS - 2500 vertical proppant storage silo, Tier 4 engines to lower GHG emissions to air, Baroid system for drilli ng waste solids disposal through the thermal desorption and BaraG - Force cuttings dryers and also developed by MI - SWACO equipment for cut- tings disposal in Schlumberger, like Dewatering, Hammermill, Verti - G, Cuttings Re - Injection systems are described as wel l in the study research. In the end of the article the relevant summary and conclusions are given.
