Estudio de la desigualdad de ingresos en el Ecuador considerando esfuerzos y herencias sociales

El objetivo principal de este estudio es analizar el comportamiento del ingreso laboral de una persona en función de las variables que lo componen, a través de una aplicación en el mercado laboral ecuatoriano. Las variables a utilizar son de dos tipos: heredadas y de esfuerzo propio. Las variables heredadas se caracterizan por ser circunstanciales, es decir, son todas aquellas situaciones o condiciones que rodean o afectan al individuo al nacer, y corresponden básicamente a la información socioeconómica de sus padres. Las variables de esfuerzo propio se caracterizan por ser las cualidades, habilidades y decisiones que por si mismo toma el individuo para incrementar su productividad laboral y mejorar sus ingresos. Una vez determinada la relación cualitativa entre todas las variables, por medio de simulaciones se evalúa el efecto en los ingresos, considerando diversos escenarios, en particular, se analiza un escenario en el cual todas las personas tienen las mismas oportunidades al nacer (igualdad de características heredadas) para diferentes intervalos de edades. Finalmente, a través del coeficiente de Gini se evalúan los efectos obtenidos en los distintos escenarios, en la desigualdad de los ingresos. Los datos utilizados en este estudio han sido obtenidos de la Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida, ECV (2006). ----- The aim of this paper is to analyze the behaviour of earnings in the Ecuadorian labor market as a function of both variables: inheritance and personal efforts. The inheritance variables are circumstantial and are composed of several situations or conditions that surrounds and affects a person from his/her birth. They mainly correspond to the family background. On the other hand, personal effort variables are characterized by the qualities, skills and situations taken in order to increase his/her productivity as a worker and therefore his/herincome. In this study, we are going to determinate the qualitative relationship between these variables by using simulations to evaluate the effect of these variables on earnings. We will take into consideration different age ranges of people as well as consider some scenarios where everyone has equal opportunities at birth (same inherited characteristics). Finally, we are going to calculate the Gini index to evaluate the effects on the income inequality. The data analyzed will be obtained from the Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida, ECV (2006).
