Abstract

One of the Balkan states with which Turkish government developed its foreign trade relationships during the Atatürk period is Romania. While Turkish-Romanian trade balance in the period of 1923-1929 is in favor of Romania, after 1930s this balance started to change. With the Turkish precautions to decrease its imports, Turkey started to supply its own needs from internal channels. Turkey was mainly importing oil and oil derivatives. In exchange for these, its exported goods were basically agricultural products. In this study, the position of Romania in Turkish foreign trade is presented by comparing it with the other Balkan states and world countries.
