Abstract

The article examines and analyzes the features of lexical figures expressing satire in the novel «Gulliver's Travels» J. Swift and compared to the original text with its translation into Ukrainian. Attention is drawn to rendition of the author's attitude to the depicted events. The following means of satire like irony that served in the works to expose the negative aspects of reality are revealed. There is also an allegory, which the writer sharply criticized, ridiculed, comparing people with of that time. It was found that humor relativity combines the first and the second parts of the work.
