Abstract

In the article as opposed to crises in modern philosophy, such as «philosophy of the end of philosophy, it is actualised the Stoic philosophy. In particular, it is studied the philosophical legacy of Marcus Aurelius as bright representative of Stoicism, namely it is dicovered his definition of philosophy as science and practice (life). In this context it is carried out the analysis of the basic principles of the Stoic philosophy, such as integrity, consistency with nature, modesty, apathy, etc., which, in fact, we reveales in the work of Marcus Aurelius «Meditations». The attention is brought to the trainings of «philosopher on the throne» in improving basic features: reason, modesty, justice and courage. We determined that the Stoic philosophy which espoused the emperor may become necessary for a modern inhabitant while searching the meaning of life or the real happiness.
