Abstract
Osip Mandelstam's “The Egyptian stamp” is the underestimated text, perhaps, because it is often perceived as the marginal text, as the prose of the great poet is sometimes perceived. Despite the fact that the story is not devoid of critical attention, it is possible to count on fingers those researches, in which it is the object. On the essence "The Egyptian Stamp" is cryptographic work, it was created in the period of Mandelstam's poetic "dumbness" and it is the peculiar kaleidoscope, reflecting the main ideas of the art world of the creator. In the story a huge number of texts of cultural memory have something in common and therefore it hides "traps" for each researcher, who goes in the wake of one text, risking to pass other, not less significant works for the world. Difficulty for the literary critic also is that the text purposely neglects reception borders and opportunities, creating multiple, non-uniform, collaged, surreal and after all the indivisible, as musical composition, world. At the heart of this world the principle of “speaking” space which “connects” a set of keynotes lies. ? ?
