Abstract
Background. The efficacy of combined radiation therapy with high dose rate brachytherapy in prostate cancer remains poorly understood. Purpose of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of combined radiotherapy of prostate cancer and androgen deprivation in the context of a single-dose escalation brachytherapy (8.5 Gy and 9.5 Gy). Material and methods. We observed 75 patients with locally advanced (T3a) and localized prostate cancer with unfavorable prognosis. Results. Dose escalation brachytherapy from 8.5 Gy to 9.5 Gy (two implants) and androgen deprivation enhance the results of radiation therapy: two-year biochemical control was 100%. Conclusion. The effectiveness of treatment of prostate cancer increases with dose escalation radiation therapy and androgen deprivation.
