Abstract
The article deals with phraseological units of the Japanese language from the standpoint of classifica- tion by their origin. Three types have been identified according to their lexical structure: vago, kango, gairaygo. Each group is illustrated with examples of phraseological units and they show that the origin of these phrases is world culture, literature and history
