CASTLEMAN'S DISEASE - A RARE CAUSE OF NECK SWELLING

Castlemans disease is a rare benign lymphoproliferative disorder, which commonly found in mediastinum and lung hila. Extrathoracic site of disease is uncommon. We are reporting a confirmed case of Castlemans disease of neck in a 19 year old female who had presented with difficulty in swallowing and neck swelling. Ultra sound study of neck shown a well defined round hypo echoic lesion in the left sub mandibular region. On contrast CT a well defined oval intensly enhancing mass noted in the left pharyngeal mucosal space pushing the carotid vesseles posteriorly narrowing the pharyngeal lumen. On MRI scan the lesion was hyper intense in both T1 and T2 weighted sequences. Based on imaging findings we gave the diagnosis of Castlemans disease of neck. Patient underwent surgery and histopathology was confirmed the diagnosis
