Abstract
A partial result of the “Institutional Research Project for the development of socio-humanistic competence in health professionals” is presented at the University of Medical Sciences of Guantanamo since 2015. The procedures followed in this research correspond to those of a qualitative research so far as they allowed defining and characterizing socio humanist competence. Through the bibliographical research the definition was defined and with the application of other research methods it was possible to establish the characteristic elements as well as the dimensions of its development in the health professionals. Base on this primary information, it is intended to outline guidelines for the development of this competence in professionals.
