Training for primary caregivers of older and dependent adults from Popular Education

Abstract
The phenomenon of accelerated aging population as objective and irreversible process is a source of concern for companies. All older people are different, some of them maintain their functional level; others need ongoing assistance for basic daily activities. A participatory action research study was conducted with 12 primary caregivers of elderly dependents, in order to implement and evaluate the result of a system of training activities from the Popular Education. A system with 6 subjects to teach is organized in 10 weekly sessions designed. a high percentage of attendance and retention in the group was achieved, was shown in the satisfaction participants high and to assess the system of training activities, all they reported that the learning acquired, allow a better understanding of behaviors and needs in the dependent elderly therefore will facilitate the handling thereof.
