Abstract
Because of the controversies of the current ethics on respect for the dignity of the person, the purpose of the study is to establish the philosophical foundations of this problem. For this, a historical-philosophical study of it on the basis of the method and implementation of the relationship between the historical and the logical is done. Thus, the dominant conceptual tendencies in the history of philosophy and ethics on the issue, which form the basis to develop a comprehensive theoretical and conceptual system about the same, are disclosed. As a conclusion the person while being autonomous, unique and unrepeatable sociocultural, is itself at all stages of life, a value, which derives its intrinsic dignity; therefore, it has to be respect.
