Abstract
An observational, descriptive and retrospective study was done involving 52 patients with cytohistological diagnosis non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in 2012, excluding those in which was a post-mortem diagnosis. Information about the demographic, clinical, radiological, diagnostic nature and extent, in patients with this diagnosis in the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto" Guantanamo. Most of them were men aged 60 or older, about 2:1 ratio compared to women; over 80% had comorbidity. Half of the cases had at least one entry in the year prior to diagnosis. In central lesions, bronchoscopy accounted for most diagnoses cytohistologic parameters, followed by sputum cytology in peripheral bronchoscopy also corresponded most diagnoses coupled with fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Adenocarcinoma was the most frequent. Over 80% were diagnosed in advanced stages.
