Quality controls of AFB smear microscopy at the laboratories in Guantanamo

Abstract
A study is performed in the Laboratory of Microbiology of the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology Guantanamo during 2013 with the objective of implementing quality control of smear (BK) sputum AFB (acid bacillus resistant alcohol) in the laboratories of Guantanamo. The studied group consists of: 605 sheets submitted by the selected laboratories .The variables were studied: health area, reading errors and panel sheets. Technical quality control and rechecking panel sheet were applied not with panel sheets. Good agreement with the rechecking of sheets was obtained not with the panel sheets. Training staff was evaluated as unacceptable, obtaining superior results in the following controls.
