Educational intervention on relatives and neighbors of patients with HIV/AIDS

Abstract
AIDS is a disease that impairs the immune system to deal with infections and other pathological processes. This virus remains dormant destroying a type of lymphocyte, cells responsible for the defense. Constitutes a health problem because of its human, social and economic impact. An educational intervention is done with the purpose of raising the level of knowledge on relatives and neighbors of patients with HIV / AIDS South Guantánamo area in 2008. The universe is made up on relatives and neighbors of patients , the sample with 60 individuals, a form was designed , survey is applied at the beginning and end of intervention containing biological, psychological and social variables, information is tabulated in numbers and percentages, using the statistical package SPSS see 10.0. There is a predominance of the age group 31-40 years, male, with respect to knowledge about the groups and risk factors for contracting infection predominated before surgery inadequate criterion, and then 100 % of these persons obtained an adequate knowledge.
