Abstract
In ancient times, people with disabilities were exterminated and for centuries they could not take advantage of social life and even to get education because of their limitations. At that time the poor was considered sub-human, and all his rights were neglected, including life, as children born with some deformities were killed soon after birth. When disability was perceived in the course of child development, soon allowed that she was dead or that were abandoned to their fate. But over the years there have been movements in the struggle for disabled people and family who came to change this scenario. People with disabilities conquered space and visibility in society in recent decades. The purpose of this article is to understand the history of people with disabilities with emphasis on antiquity to the present day.
